MLK Day of Education and Action
Hofstra University and the Office of Equity and Inclusion in collaboration with the Village of Hempstead present MLK Day of Education and Action. This inaugural event invites Hofstra students, faculty, staff, and alumni to join with local organizations, community leaders, and residents to engage in a series of dialogues that promote equity, access, and social justice across Long Island.
The MLK Day of Education and Action features a Social Justice Expo and an interactive workshop; “Activism: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow” presented by Dr. Jonathan Lightfoot, Mr. Dorian Segure and the ABG Schultz Middle School Law Club students, Dr. Tomeka Robinson and Dr. Andrea Efthymiou. The Social Justice expo will immediately follow the workshop, where guests will have an opportunity to learn more about local community organizations and ways to get involved. The Expo will also give students, faculty, and community leaders a chance to network to foster future collaborations, programming, and events.
Admission is free and lunch will be served, all guests must RSVP at hofstra.edu/mlkrsvp
We are excited to bring together local community members, organizations, leaders, educators, students, and the Hofstra community and hope you can join us.
